Our 4th–6th grade Jaguars put on a fantastic sing-along concert filled with holiday classics that brought so much joy to our school! 🎄🎺 The energy was contagious, and even our Jaguars who aren’t in band couldn’t help but join in—singing along and spreading holiday cheer all around.
We are so proud of our talented musicians and thankful for the festive spirit they shared with our entire school community! 🐾

Our 6th graders have been busy traveling back in time! 🐫🏺 Students created hands-on Ancient Egypt projects, bringing history to life with incredible creativity. From detailed pyramids to colorful sarcophagi, intricate canopic jars, and so much more — each project shows the effort, imagination, and learning that went into understanding this fascinating civilization.
We are so proud of their hard work and love seeing history come alive outside of the textbook! 🌍👏

As a part of their classroom rewards, this past Friday, the SWIC baseball team stopped by Miss Gray’s classroom for an epic game of Jeopardy against our 5th graders! They shared pizza, laughs, and lots of friendly competition… and luckily the feud ended in a tie 😄

🌟Last month, our character word was Empathy, and we focused on understanding and supporting others when they experience different emotions.
A big shout-out to Ms. Rickert’s class, who did an amazing job performing a skit that showed how we can show empathy to our friends., whether they’re feeling excited, sad, frustrated, or worried. Their performance reminded us that a little kindness and understanding can make a big difference.

We’re looking for a dedicated Permanent Substitute Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year!
Requirements:
Professional Educator License (PEL), Substitute Teacher License (SUB), or Short-Term Substitute Teacher License (STS)
SUB License: bachelor’s degree, valid 5 years, renewable
STS License: associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours, valid until 6/30/2028
Would report to Jefferson every day, with occasional coverage at other District 118 schools if needs

6th Grade West Jr High Bowling Opportunity
Attention 6th grade students and families! Tryouts for the West Jr High Bowling team are coming up soon! Incoming 6th grade students are permitted to try out. Below are the tryout dates and times:
January 7th & 8th @ Bel-Air Bowl
Jan 7th: 3:10-5:00
Jan 8th: 4:00-5:30
Please be reminded that each student must be registered and have a current physical on file with your attending school before participating in the tryout. No student will be permitted to try out without a current physical. You may bring an updated copy of the physical to the tryout dates. It is also highly recommended to attend both days of tryouts. Students and families WILL NOT need to pay a lane fee for tryouts.
