Douglas Elementary School is looking to hire a crossing guard for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. The hours are 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 2:15-3:15 p.m. on Monday through Friday, with an additional 1.5-2 hours a day if interested. The pay rate is $14.00 an hour. Today we celebrated the careers of four of Douglas School's finest, who will all be retiring at the conclusion of our 2023-24 school year. Congratulations to Douglas School 2nd graders, Oliver White and Barrett Otero, who were recently selected as 1st place winners in their division in the recent What does Belonging Mean to Me Creative Art Contest. Both boys were recognized at the recent Cities in Harmony event, and both won a $25.00 gift card for their entry. Way to go, Tigers! 🐯

Belleville AmeriCorps at Southwestern Illinois College is seeking new AmeriCorps Members to serve as Summer Camp Counselors & Tutors for elementary-aged children this summer for Belleville Public School Districts #118 & #175. Counselors & Tutors will be supervised by, and work closely with, veteran educators throughout the summer. The primary responsibilities include tutoring; lesson planning; assisting the teachers in the organization of positive recreational and enrichment activities; organizing activities; and enforcing camp policies and procedures including the discipline policy for the children. AmeriCorps Members gain national service credentials, experience, and professional development, in addition to nearly $7,000 in cash & college money for their two months of service. The application deadline is April 23, 2024.
