Our Douglas Girls on the Run participants and coaches ran a Practice 5K (3.1 miles) today. The girls did an amazing job! They were determined, had a positive attitude, and cheered one another on throughout the run. A huge “Thanks” to HarleyQuinn and her Mom for mapping out the route, writing encouraging words along the route and setting up a water station. Also, thank you Latchkey for cheering us on at the finish line. 🐯










Our Douglas 1st graders recently took a field trip to Belleville Firehouse #1. While there, they learned all about fire safety and what it is like being a firefighter. Now they all want to be firefighters! Thank you for hosting us, Firehouse #1!👩🚒🐯










Tomorrow is our final day to celebrate Red Ribbon Week at Douglas Elementary School. Thank you to our students and families for participating in all the fun!

Our Douglas Tigers were true super heroes last week as they took on the role of "Mouth Guards" and helped Captain Super Grin of the Land of Smiles defeat Caz Cavity!🦸♂️🦷🪥 What better time to learn about taking care of our teeth than right before Halloween... one of Caz Cavity's favorite holidays full of cavity-causing candy!🤪🎃👻🍫🍬🍭 Keep up the great work, Douglas Mouth Guards, and don't forget to brush twice a day, floss, and use mouthwash! This year's Spelling Bee is being held at West Jr. High School on Wednesday, November 15th beginning at 7:00 p.m. Way to go, Tigers!

These students were nominated by our Douglas staff, and were recognized during a special ceremony held at the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville yesterday, October 19th. Way to go, Tigers! Douglas Elementary School 2nd grade students, Lailah Stover-Harris, Silas Smith, and Hunter Carmichael, along with 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Mueller, presented to our District #118 Board of Educaton at last night's monthly board meeting, and shared all they've learned about healthy eating during our 2nd grade classroom's recent Nutrition Expedition. Thank you to our students' families for allowing them to attend and for joining us, and to our 118 Board of Education for inviting us to attend and allowing us to share!



Mrs. Gravot's 1st graders and Mrs. Muendlein's 6th graders led our October Character Assembly, and presented on our character word of the month, Responsibility. They did an amazing job of teaching us why being responsible is so important, and how we can show responsibility each and every day. Great job, Tigers!! 🐯

Congratulations to Douglas Elementary School 4th grader, Eliza Dahm, who was selected as one of the winners in the Downtown Belleville Halloween Window Painting Contest hosted by Belleville Main Street. Her awesome painting will be on view at Olde Towne Mall through this Halloween, so be sure to check it out. Great work, Eliza!

Congratulations to 5th grader, Armond Anderson, and to 6th grader, Caitlannagh Harszy, for being selected as our Douglas School Students of the Month for October! Armond and Caitlannagh regularly show great character, and serve as excellent role models for their fellow students. Our Douglas 6th graders has been reading "Towers Falling," and learning all about the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center and what happened on 9/11. The students then became engineers, and worked in teams to plan and build their own towers with a solid foundation. Great job, Tigers! 🐯
