Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by Earthday.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2024 is "Planet vs. Plastics."

Belleville AmeriCorps at Southwestern Illinois College is seeking new AmeriCorps Members to serve as Summer Camp Counselors & Tutors for elementary-aged children this summer for Belleville Public School Districts #118 & #175. Counselors & Tutors will be supervised by, and work closely with, veteran educators throughout the summer. The primary responsibilities include tutoring; lesson planning; assisting the teachers in the organization of positive recreational and enrichment activities; organizing activities; and enforcing camp policies and procedures including the discipline policy for the children. AmeriCorps Members gain national service credentials, experience, and professional development, in addition to nearly $7,000 in cash & college money for their two months of service. The application deadline is April 23, 2024.

As we approach the end of the school year, our "Lost and Found" items here at school are adding up. If you see anything that belongs to your child, please encourage them to pick it up while they're in the cafeteria this week.
ISA testing begins tomorrow for 5th grade students. Please make sure your student arrives to school on time, gets adequate sleep (9-10 hours) and has a good breakfast.
